#OnThisDay in 1927, the Mevlana Museum in Konya was established. The building used as the museum today was once the Dervish Lodge in the rose garden of the Seljuk Palace. This lodge was gifted to Mevlana’s father by Seljuk Sultan Alaeddin Keykubat. In the courtyard is a roofed fountain built by Ottoman Sultan Selim I. Gifts by other Ottoman sultans are scattered throughout. The former tilavet (Arabic word for reading the Quran with a beautiful voice) room now displays priceless works of calligraphy. Elsewhere, the oldest copies of Mevlana’s works are displayed. The graves of Mevlana and his relatives are also here. Explore this one-of-a-kind location in Konya to learn more about Mevlana and witness this incredible history firsthand. • (Mevlana Museum, Konya) • Click here for more information: https://www.turkishmuseums.com/museum... • Follow on Instagram: / officialturkishmuseums • Follow on Twitter: / turkishmuseums • Follow on Facebook: / turkishmuseums • #Türkiye #Mevlana #Museum #TurkishMuseums
