Hello everyone! • This is a cover version of 'Kingborn' by Fleshgod Apocalypse. • Francesco Paoli is one of my absolutely favourite metal drummers, due to his super tight and powerful blasts. He is also one of very few, who can really nail a track at 270 bpm in a live situation. • So it was very challenging! Especially because of some fill ins and the double bass pattern during the verse. I originally wanted to use heel-toe-technique on this one (like Francesco does), but I didn't get it as clean as I wanted it to be. So after some takes I switched back to what I'm used to -- which is heel up/swivel. • I'm still working on it, or rather my balance during playing heel-toe. For the bass I used a standard sample from the Steven Slate foundry and for the snare I mixed signals (about one half natural sound with eq, comp and just a little verb; and the other half is again a standard snare from the Steven Slate foundry. I had to pitch the sound of the sample, so it would match my real snare. • It just gives you the attack during all the blast beats. And yes I admit, it sounds a bit unnatural but it's just a drum cover and you can sea that I'm actually playing it live...) • Furthermore I used • Dixon MBS shells (2x22 , 8 , 10 , 12 , 13 , 16 , 18 ) • A p.d.p.
