Royal Air Force Folkingham is a former RAF station located SW of Folkingham, Lincolnshire and about 29 miles S of Lincoln. Opened in 1940, it was used by both the RAF and US Army Air Forces. During the war, it was used as a troop carrier airfield for airborne units and as a training depot of the newly formed RAF Regiment. After the war, it was placed on care and maintenance but in the late 1950s and early 1960s, RAF Bomber Command deployed PGM-17 Thor Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile (IRBM) here. They (3) these can be seen in the video at 5:15 with one at closer range at 4:50 min • Today the remains of the airfield are located on private property being used as agricultural fields, with the main north–south runway and spectacles acting as hardstanding for hundreds of scrapped vehicles.
