Inspired by royal music through the ages, Alexander L’Estrange’s fun, accessible choral work is an 8-minute celebratory anthem for unison children’s choir and/or SATB chorus and piano or chamber orchestra. • Zadok Rules - Hallelujah! certainly has the tingle-factor. Commissioned by the Hanover Band Foundation - www.thehanoverband.com - L'Estrange sets a text that wittily traces 1,000 years of the British monarchy, and gives singers the chance to experience excerpts from Zadok the priest , Rule Britannia , Hallelujah chorus and other classics. • Here are a few lines from the composer’s text (to the tune of Handel's “See the conquering hero comes”): • ‘YORK: Two more Edwards, then along came Dick the Bad (buried in a car park...); • TUDOR: Henrys sev’n and eight … then (briefly) Ned the Lad. • Bloody Mary and Queen Bessie … Then came Scottish Jim; • STUART Charles the first was next, but … they beheaded him!’ • The full score, vocal score and instrumental parts are available to hire from [email protected] and the children's score is supplied under the photocopying licence (together with mp3 learning track). • Read more https://www.fabermusic.com/music/zado... • SATB part-learning resources and rehearsal backing tracks also available. • www.alexanderlestrange.com
