UPDATE: Yves Engler was released in the evening of February 24 after spending five days in a holding cell. His next court appearance will be April 25. As a a part of his release, he is not to tag his complainant, Dahlia Kurtz on X. • BACKGROUND • Author and activist Yves Engler is facing political persecution for calling out the genocidal commentary of a self described Toronto based media influencer, named Dahlia Kurtz on X. In this video, Yves's lawyer, John Philpott, notes that Conservative Party Candidate and attorney, Neil Oberman, is the one bringing forth the charges on behalf of Dahlia Kurtz and is alleging harassment from Engler. Rather than block Engler on X, Kurtz and Oberman have convinced the Montreal Police that Engler is a threat. Engler should have been released but the crown attorney in the case instead chose to remand him.
