We traveled to Alvord desert in south east Oregon in September. If you are looking for a remote destination for camping, look no further. • Things to consider for Alvord desert: • Have ample lighting for your night in the desert. Headlamps and tent lamps were very useful. • Fires are not allowed as of 2021. • Bring plenty of water. • Bring tripod for night photography. • Leave no trace • Fill up your gas tank at Burns or Fields. • The hot springs area have campgrounds and restrooms. • Camp at the boundary at night. • Alvord is remote. Don't rely on cell reception.
