Loon, black-throated loon (Gavia arctica), Arctic loon or the black-throated diver is a migratory aquatic bird found in the northern hemisphere, primarily breeding in freshwater lakes in northern Europe and Asia. • Many know loon on it's loud and easily recognized sound that echoes long distances over lakes late at evening or night.
