The mythical Gondogoro La circuit is one of the most incredible trekking experiences in the world. The high pass combines Baltoro region with Hushe valley, two very different areas. Where Baltoro is raw and dramatic glacier, Hushe is green and alpine. The trek starts from Askole, 120 kms from Skardu. From here on it takes 6-7 days to reach Concordia, a meeting point of three glaciers. After Concordia, teams trek to Ali Camp via Vigne Glacier. The crossing must be made at night i.e. before sunrise increases risks of avalanche danger. On the other side of the pass awaits the beautiful Hushe valley, home to Laila Peak. Here it takes another two days to reach Hushe with overnight stops in Khuspang and Shaiescho.
