Gion Matsuri in HD Yoiyama Nights

Though the main event of Kyoto’s famous Gion Festival is the large Yamaboko Junkō parade, the event many tourists and citizens can enjoy to the fullest is Yoiyama. There are six Yoiyama nights during the festival period: three before the first parade on the 17th and three before the second parade on the 24th. During these Yoiyama nights float neighborhoods open up their headquarters to visitors who want to view their treasures and art or go inside the float itself. Gionbayashi folk music fills the night air and festival food stalls crop up selling everything from fresh sliced pineapple to piping hot yakisoba.
