Quick facts about this group of highly venomous snakes! The yellow-lipped sea krait (Laticauda colubrina) also known as banded sea krait or banded sea snake is one of the most venomous creatures in the ocean. However, I have never ever heard of anyone getting bitten by one or being harmed by one. • Unlike the land kraits, the sea krait has a flattened tail which is uses to propel itself through the water. Yellow lipped sea kraits have a diet of mainly eels and some small fish which they catch and paralyse with their very potent neurotoxic venom before swallowing them whole. The Banded Sea Krait can be found in the Indian Ocean and the tropical Western Pacific Seas. This snake gets its name from its distinct black uniform stripes that cover its blueish grey body • • When encountering such snakes keep a distance of a few meters, so that you can watch it going about its normal behaviour - searching for and feeding on prey. If you go to close - YOUR'RE DEAD... • ...HAHA NO - CHILL OUT. Although the sea kraits venom is 10 times that of a rattle snake, these beautiful creatures are not aggressive at all. You can safely observe them from a few meters aways. Obviously don't do something stupid like try to grab it, which you shouldn't be doing to any sea creature anyway. • So, what happens when Divers Encounter Highly Venomous Banded Sea Kraits? The divers get a to see a really cool sea creature adding to their great dive! • And if you love snakes and other critters, check out this playlist: • • Cute Baby Wolf Snake Tries to Eat Gec... • • #BandedSeaKrait #SeaKrait #SeaSnake #Snake #Snakes
