Hey guys! • Thank you so much for all of your support throughout my journey with Chiari Malformation. • Check out my 1-month update here:    • 1 Month Update After Brain Surgery (G...   • Brain surgery is no joke. And I was pretty terrified going into it. But, I can tell you that today that everything went extremely well and recovery is even better. My surgery was Dec. 9, 2019. • If any of you are going through the same thing, just know that there are options for you. Surgery may not be as scary as you think and it could help you tremendously. I am a success story and here to prove it. • If you have any questions...feel free to reach out! • (HERE IS THE MEDICAL DIAGNOSIS): • I was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation. Chiari Malformation is a condition in which brain tissue extends into your spinal canal. It occurs when part of your skull is abnormally small or misshapen, pressing on your brain and forcing it downward. • The most common surgery to treat Chiari malformation is posterior fossa decompression. It creates more space for the cerebellum and relieves pressure on the spinal cord. The surgery involves making an incision at the back of the head and removing a small portion of the bone at the bottom of the skull (craniectomy). • • ___________________________________________________ • Follow me on Instagram! • Instagram:   / stephstrand
