Follow along with our video guide for tips on how to install an alcove tub, from the experts at American Standard. • 0:08 STEP 1: To begin, ensure the rough-in dimension sare proper, plumb, and square. • 0:15 STEP 2: Measure and mark the indicated tub height on each stud for the leveling stringer • 0:25 STEP 3: Measure stringer lengths following the alcove dimensions. Then, transfer the alcove dimensions onto the stringer and cut. • 0:37 STEP 4: Place the cut stringer on to the marked studs and mark the center of each stud on the stringer • 0:44 STEP 5: Using a small square, strike the stud center line on the surface of the stringer • 0:49 STEP 6: Pre-drill the stringer for mounting screws. • 0:59 STEP 7: Position the top of the stringer to the marked lines of the vertical studs and securely screw into place. • 1:08 STEP 8: Check the drain hole clearance in the subfloor before setting the tub in place. Once the stinger is in place, position the bathtub within the recess area. • 1:15 STEP 9: Position the tub in the alcove with the underside of the top flange resting on the top of the stringer. Snug the tub flange to the wood studs with screw and washer.
