How to fix wood scratches by Antique furniture restorer Simon Gilboy. • Simon demonstrates how to repair and disguise scratches in wood furniture using Gilboys beeswax scratch repair cubes. • To fix wood scratches you will need: • Gilboys scratch repair block - colour-matched to the wood finish: http://bit.ly/30jouM5 • Thin piece of plastic such as a credit card • Buffing cloth - our furniture restorers recommend a 100% cotton with an open weave to prevent over-heating of the wax and causing streaking. http://bit.ly/30awKOb • How to use beeswax cubes to repair scratches in wood furniture • 1. 01:27 Select the appropriate shade of beeswax repair cube to match the wood finish • 2. 01:40 Warm up the edge of the beeswax repair cube, just to soften the wax a little • 3. 01:57 Apply straight onto the scratch (do not prepare the surface) • 4. 02:05 Scrub the wax into the area of the scratch • 5. 02:28 Use a thin plastic card such as an old credit card to scrape over the top very carefully to both force the wax into the scratch and remove the excess wax from around the scratch • 6. 03:15 Buff around the area with a suitable buffing cloth, being careful not to buff too hard over the scratch. We recommend our own 100% cotton open-weave buffing cloth: http://bit.ly/31uQuJP • 7. 03:33 (optional) Polish the entire surface using a good beeswax polish such as our own Gilboy's Gold: http://bit.ly/31Dzbq0
