となりの トトロ • ~コンサート・バンドのためのセレクション~ • My Neighbor Totoro • Selections for Concert Band • 久石 譲 作曲 後藤 洋 編曲 • Composed by Joe Hisaishi Arranged by Yo Goto • This arrangement was specifically written for publication and recording in 2008. • There have been countless interpretations, both positive and negative, of My Neighbor Totoro . However, I was simply moved by this film's portrait of family love, respect for the environment, exciting adventure of childhood, and people's loving kindness. It touched my heart with its abundant colorful images. • To reflect its simplicity and unsophisticated character, this version is by no means an elaborate arrangement. With the tune from The Path of Wind as the introduction, this work is a medley of familiar tunes of the following scenes: • 1. Stroll, • 2. The Village in May, • 3. Traveling Soot, • 4. The Path of Wind, • 5. Catbus, • 6. My Neighbor Totoro • Not technically challenging in its content, junior high bands are more than capable of performing this work. To stay true to the original tunes, I aimed to reflect direct impressions of the anime; and instead of segmented bits and pieces of scenes, I have tried to combine them into one complete story. When performing please be mindful of both these points. • In the original work, dotted 8th/16th rhythms in Stroll section and straight 8th notes of The Village in May are indicated to play with triplet swing feel; to avoid any misunderstanding in this arrangement, all triplet swing feel sections are written in triplet rhythms. Please advise your ensemble first hand regarding this rhythm as it is a bit hard to read. • (Yo Goto) • Source from http://www.bravomusicinc.com
