The stages of a hawksbill turtle nesting on Milman Island! • Stage 1: Body-pitting. • Using her front and rear flippers, she will excavate the area in the sand. • Stage 2: Chambering. • She digs down to build her egg chamber and deposits her eggs. • Stage 3: Cover up. • She covers her eggs and pats down her nest. • Stage 4: Return to the ocean. • Her eggs will hatch in around sixty days. • With thanks to our partners Koala, Queensland Environment, Queensland Science, University of Queensland.
