s03e21 • All my life, in every boat I have owned I have had a GME radio, until now. What happened to change this state of affairs? • The GME radio in my new boat wasn’t working from day one. I tracked the problem gown to the radio aerial wire. The insulation was breaking down where it was exposed to the elements and the outside insulation was falling off in places. The missing insulation had let the moist salt air into the finely braided copper wire, and it had corroded and broken. • I tried replacing the aerial wire, but it still didn’t work. I took the radio to the chandlery I usually deal with to see about getting it repaired or replaced.
