Dojo Pro #10 ko katana - $275 (as of July 2015) • http://roninkatana.com/dojo-pro-katan... • ** Pros / Cons ** • Sturdy 1060 high carbon steel blade • Quality fit finish, especially for the price • Limited cutting power due to the short blade • Menuki shape and placement makes the handle less comfortable • Elite bare blades - $575 (as of July 2015) • http://roninkatana.com/katana-bare-bl... • ** Pros / Cons ** • Excellent cutter • Well-made blade, beautiful hamon and polish • Light weight, good balance • Less durable than a monosteel blade, tends to bend • Not a full handle, cracked wood from use • ** Verdict ** • I don’t know terribly much about Japanese swords and haven’t handled a large number of reproductions but these seem to offer pretty good quality at affordable prices. The cracked handle on the Elite katana is unfortunate, but to be fair that type of mount is not really meant for use. But it has a good traditionally forge blade that cuts very well.
