Gonzaga's planned trip to Maui this winter for one of the premiere pre-season basketball tournaments has changed destinations and the team will be heading to Honolulu instead. • The Maui Invitational will relocate this year to Honolulu. • The Lahaina Civic Center which typically hosts the tournament is serving as a critical hub for Maui wildfire recovery efforts. • While we have to move this year's Tournament off of Maui, we are determined to celebrate and honor the culture and traditions that make this event so special, says Tom Valdiserri, executive vice president of KemperSports LIVE, the operator of the Maui Invitational. Throughout this process, we've seen the spirit of 'ohana in action. Thank you to Governor Josh Green, Hawai'i Tourism Authority, and Mayor Richard Bissen as well as the staff at Chaminade University of Honolulu and University of Hawai'i at Mānoa for working tirelessly with us to keep this year's Tournament in Hawai'i. • Gonzaga joins a top field in this year's tourament. • Five of the eight teams that will participate are in the Top 10 of ESPN's pre-season poll. • The teams include Gonzaga, Marquette, Kansas, Purdue, Tennessee, UCLA, Syracuse and Chaminade. • The Maui Invitational is also using the tournament as a platform to raise money. • Tournament organizers launched the Hoops for 'Ohana online auction last week. • Proceeds will go directly to wildfire relief and recovery efforts. • The tournament tips off November 20th. • Gonzaga faces Purdue in the opening round. • ►Subscribe:    / 4newsnow   • ►Website: http://www.kxly.com • ►Twitter:   / kxly4news   • ►Facebook:   / kxly4news
