A while back I discovered a beautiful poem written by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow in 1840. This poem was titled “The Village Blacksmith”. The spirit behind the words was so inspiring that I decided that it needed to be sung and put to music. In reality, the poem is a bit longer, but I have made minor adaptations to fit it to music. Hope y’all enjoy! If you’re a fellow blacksmith who plays an instrument, lemme hear your renditions! • The short film included was taken by Peter Vogt in 1965. It documents the handmade production of axes in the Oakland, Maine blacksmith shop of Emerson Stevens. • Let me know what you think, and enjoy the video!
