Analytic prime number theory in the twenty-first century, Terence Tao, • 8/8/2023, Warsaw - Numbers in the Universe school and conference. • Lecture 2. Large gaps between primes. • The n^th gap between primes grows like log n on the average, and a famous conjecture of Cramer asserts that it can reach as large as log^2 n infinitely often. It has been remarkably hard to get close to this conjecture, however, after a lull of eighty years, an advance was made by Ford, Green, Konyagin, Maynard, and myself, using the theory of hypergraphs. We discuss both the old and new results in this area, as well as the predictions coming from random models. • Course notes: • https://a.storyblok.com/f/240358/x/08...
