THE BEST BLEGANJUR GAMELAN Accompanying the Melasti Ceremony || Balinese Traditional Music (DNA Family Bali) • Baleganjur is one of the Balinese gamelan ensembles. This term comes from the words Bala and Ganjur. Bala means troops or ranks, Ganjur means walking. Balaganjur later became Baleganjur, which is an army or line that is currently running, which is now more related to a gamelan barungan. • Baleganjur gamelan was originally functioned as an accompaniment to Ngaben ceremonies or traditional and religious parades. But in its development, now the role of this gamelan is getting wider. Now the Baleganjur gamelan is used to accompany art parades, participate in the accompaniment of sports parades, accompany kite competitions, and some which is contested. • Baleganjur is an ensemble which is a development of the gamelan bonang or bebonangan. Both in terms of instrumentation and composition of the songs. Bonang or bebonangan is a barungan consisting of various percussive instruments that use pencons such as reong, trompong kajar, kempli, kempur, and gongs. Gamelan bonang uses two drums which are played using the cedugan hips. In the lontar Prakempa it is stated that the gamelan bonang is used to accompany the Ngaben ceremony.
