After the Yamnaya culture, the bronze age steppe was dominated by the Catacomb culture. Their fascinating burial tradition reveals a complex society of warriors and herders. Their kurgans or barrows covered the Pontic Steppe as did their cattle and ox-drawn wagons. They were bronze smiths, wagon builders, artists, and warriors. They may be the ancestors of the Mycenaeans of Ancient Greece and even influenced the later Indo-Iranian speakers of the steppes, like the Scythians, Cimmerians, and Saka. This is the story of the incredible Catacomb culture. • If you enjoy my videos please consider supporting the channel • Become a YouTube Channel Member: / @dandavishistory • Support me on Patreon: / dandavisauthor • All my books on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3xngwz5 • My Links • Website http://dandavisauthor.com/ • Facebook: / dandavisauthor • Twitter: / dandaviswrites • Instagram: / dandavisauthor • Artwork • Ancient Europeans: https://x.com/ancient_euro3 • The Beaker Lady: https://x.com/beaker_the12224 • Ancestral Whispers: https://x.com/Sulkalmakh • Sources • The Oxford Handbook of the European Bronze Age: https://amzn.to/3ZXIGh0 • The Horse, the Wheel, and Language: https://amzn.to/3aD3Rhu • The Origin of the Indo-Iranians: https://amzn.to/3YDE8Po • The Oxford Handbook of the European Bronze Age: https://amzn.to/3ZXIGh0 • Crimes in the Past: Archaeological and Anthropological Evidence: https://amzn.to/4hoMMIS • Economy and Social Organisation of Northern Pontic Steppe 2750-2000 BC.
