PCDJ DEX 3 Quick Demonstration of AIUnmixEQ™

Coming in DEX 3.19: Introducing brand-new DEX 3 feature called AIUnmixEQ™! As the name implies, DEX 3.19 (and up) is using machine learning (deep neural networks, a flavor of AI) to add Real-Time Unmixing/Stem Separation (Music Source Separation). Use DEX 3's Equalizer knobs or kill pads to smoothly separate songs into 3 stems: • • Vocals (High eq knob) • • Instruments (Mid eq knob) • • Drums (Low eq knob) • Our new AIUnmixEQ™ feature brings up new opportunities for DJs and KJs: • • Live mashups and seamless advanced remixing • • On-the-fly acapella or instrumental • • Instant karaoke tracks from regular tracks (with or without • guided vocals) • You can activate this feature from Preferences/Options - General tab: AIUnmixEQ™ - use the eq knobs as stems: Vocals, Instruments, Drums . • IMPORTANT NOTE: AIUnmixEQ™ is only available on modern Macs/PCs with 8 GB of RAM or more. For performance reasons it is recommended that you also have a dedicated GPU/video card (eg. NVidia, AMD, Apple M1/M2). Works for songs and videos under 15 minutes long. On modern powerful laptops it usually takes 2-3 seconds for AIUnmixEQ™ to analyze and split the audio into stems, but it may take up to 15-20 seconds if you have an older computer - during this time you can still play the track. • Some other important additions and changes we've made in DEX 3.19 (and up): • • The DEX 3 audio engine is now fully 32-bit audio (for comparison, streaming services and CD quality tracks are usually only 16-bit) • • Added support for industry-standard STEM files (files with a • .stem.mp4 extension that contain pre-separated stems: drums, bass, sounds/melody, voice/lead) • • Various performance optimizations • A Few other important notes: • 1. Since it's AI based most of the times it works 100% but sometimes it misses. However, even when it doesn't, if you keep the EQs in the reset position, the audio is exactly the same as the original one, nothing at all is lost (quality wise). • 2. For Intel-based systems (PCs or Macs) a minimum of Core generation 8 (eg. Core i3 8xxx) is recommended if you don't have a dedicated GPU since before that generation the integrated GPUs are really slow and our AI uses the video card to do it's thing. • 3. On lower-end machines that option will be grayed-out and can't be enabled and the software will work just as fast as the previous 3.18 version. • 4.
