The Huckle-Buck (Alfred-Gibson) by Tommy Dorsey his Orchestra, vocal by Charlie Shavers • With some melodic similarity to Charlie Parker’s “Now’s The Time” (1945), “The Huckle-Buck” became a #1 R B instrumental recording for the Paul Williams band and spawned various cover versions. The most successful was this Sy Oliver-arranged Tommy Dorsey release with vocal by trumpeter Charlie Shavers.
