Howdy! :D • During the 1990s, in order to stave off bankruptcy and help to expand their influence, the unlikely partners of KLM and Northwest Airlines joined forces to create the first modern airline alliance known informally as the Wings Alliance, the business model of which set the precedent for future airline alliances such as Skyteam, Oneworld and Star Alliance, although due to a controversial attempt to tie up with Alitalia, the resulting fallout would lead to the Wings Alliance project collapsing in a whirlwind of costly litigation. • All video content and images in this production have been provided with permission wherever possible.
