Soft and Moist Mawa Cake Recipe

This cake is moist, light and full of mawa flavour. It is flavoured with cardamom and nutmeg and topped with pistachios and almond flakes. It’s a perfect accompaniment with your tea or coffee. Give it a try and let me know what you think in the comments! • #sammyscakery • #mawacake • #mawa • #mawacakerecipe • • Subscribe to Sammy's Cakery on Youtube: / @sammyscakery • Follow us on Instagram: • / sammyscakery • Like us on Facebook: • / sammiescakery • • Ingredients • 220 g all-purpose flour • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder • 1/4 tsp baking soda • 1/4 tsp salt • 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder • 1/2 tsp nutmeg powder • 120 g unsalted butter • 200 g caster sugar • 2 large eggs • 100 grams grated mawa • 1/2 cup milk • Few slivered pistachios and almonds for garnishing • Method • 1) Preheat the oven to 180d C Grease an 8-inch cake tin and lime with parchment paper. • 2) In a bowl, sieve flour, baking powder and baking soda and cardamom and nutmeg powder and salt. Whisk the dry ingredients until well combined. Set aside. • 3) In another bow beat the butter and sugar on medium-high speed until light and creamy. Add grated mawa, continue beating for about 2 minutes. • 4) Add in the eggs one at a time, continue beating on medium-high speed. • 5) Add the dry ingredients and milk, starting with flour and ending with flour. You can use hand blender to incorporate all the ingredients however do not over mix. • 6) Transfer the batter to the prepared baking tin, sprinkle the slivered pistachios and almonds on top of the batter. • Bake for about 50 to 55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the centre of the cake comes out clean.
