On July 11, 1991, Nigeria Airways Flight 2120 tragically caught fire after takeoff from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The pilots didn't know that there was smoke inside. Alarms were going off, showing equipment problems. Mechanic Jean-Paul Phillipe realized there was a fire onboard. Things got worse quickly. Passengers couldn't breathe well. The plane lost its hydraulic systems and the ability to steer. Captain Allan struggled to control it. The air traffic controller finally understood the plane's trouble and guided it toward a runway. Inside, passengers panicked as the fire spread. Some tried to open doors, but it was too fast to do so safely. The plane was close to landing in Jeddah when control was lost. It crashed hard, exploding on impact. Everyone onboard, 247 passengers and 14 crew members, died.
