BodyCloner: Real-time 3D Person Scanning with a Portable and Low-cost Scan Arm • Robert Maier Daniel Cremers • Computer Vision Group • Technical University of Munich • We proudly present our portable and fully automatic 3D body scanner for generating accurate full-body 3D models of persons. • The platform has already been successfully demonstrated at numerous high-profile events at TU Munich and has received increased media attention after scanning the president of TU Munich, Wolfgang A. Herrmann, within the TUM 150 years festivities. • The setup consists of a robot arm with four RGB-D sensors that performs a full 360 degree loop around the person. In contrast to expensive camera domes with up to 100 cameras, our setup is significantly more cost efficient with comparable reconstruction quality.
