More information a list of the application profiles to modify: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/... • Nvidia added default Application Profiles for a couple core Windows components as well as a couple other common programs like web browsers and Steam, to their 2xx video drivers (I forget which specific driver introduced them). These Windows component profiles are always active and constantly override the Global Profile setting for Power Management, causing the drivers to ignore the Global Profile setting for Power Management! • Changing these Windows component profiles to Follow Global Setting isn't recommended, as when saving the changes these specific profiles will change from Follow Global Setting to explicitly what the Global Setting is set to. So instead of the profile being saved as (Follow global setting) Prefer Maximum Performance it'll get saved as Prefer Maximum Performance . So I suggest setting them to your desired Power Management mode (in this case, Prefer Maximum Performance mode). • The normal safeguards against overheating and operating out of specification etc. will remain operational, Boost Clocks will continue to work correctly too. This will notably increase the minimum amount of power the Video Card consumes when idle. • Disabling Power Saving Mode may potentially resolve some issues for people, like the video card getting stuck at a low clock speed which can result in hitching/stutter, and anomalous bad performance. • Video applies to Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10 and Windows 11.
