This version of deadbeat escapement is distinguished from the classic model in a number of ways: (1) the spokes of the escape wheel, which represent the 'teeth', are pointed radially outward, not leaning forward in the direction of rotation, (2) there are two joint escape wheels, the front one swings the pendulum to the right while the rear swings it to the left, (3) the pallet fork (anchor) is on a plane that is perpendicular to that of the escape wheel, (4) a pallet fork receives an impulse from the spokes and transfers a torque to the red bifurcated fork above, which in turn strikes the pendulum - in the classic model the pallet fork and pendulum are integrated into one unit which moves in unison. • The design of the escape wheel and associated pallet fork in this model are identical to the those in my Lego verge and foliot escapement ( • Lego Clock Escapement — Verge and Foliot ). In this escapement of the modified deadbeat, the foliot is replaced by a pendulum. The tick tock sound of this pendulum-based escapement is strikingly more steady than the one of the verge and foliot. • The classic deadbeat escapement is used in most modern pendulum clocks. • Watch other verge and foliot escapements in action: • Lego Double-Stack Balance-Wheel Verge Escapement: • Lego Double-Stack Balance-Wheel Verge... • Lego Dual Balance-Wheel Escapement: • Lego Dual Balance-Wheel Verge Escapement • Lego Verge Escapement: • Lego Verge Escapement • Lego Verge Escapement with magnets and Balance Spring: • Lego Verge Escapement • Metallic verge and foliot: • Erector Set Clock Escapement — Verge ... • Lego verge and foliot: • Lego Clock Escapement — Verge and Foliot • Lego and foliot escapement transforms into verge and pendulum escapement: • • Lego Verge and Foliot Clock Escapemen...
