California has experienced a first to worst transformation over the course of just a few generations. As the state's public schools saw demographics change in the 1960s, school funding changed as well. In his November 4 Brown Bag lecture, Stanford University professor Albert Camarillo provided perspectives on the history of Mexican Americans and African Americans in California's public schools over the past half century. He shared personal reflections as a student who attended Compton public schools during the 1950s and 1960s and as a historian/citizen who has worked in education-related public service projects in Compton and East Palo Alto in recent years. Along with these clips, the full lecture and a PowerPoint on this topic by Camarillo can be found at: https://edpolicy.stanford.edu/events/...
