Minor languages are chiefly Romance languages derived of Latin in parallel with other major Romance languages like Italian, French, Spanish, etc., which can be found everywhere on the Italian peninsula. Unfortunately, like any minor languages which have to contend with a major, official language in any given territory, all of these languages are rapidly disappearing, ranging from a state vulnerability to one of near extinction (if they haven’t gone extinct already). • These languages are often frowned upon as unworthy of being used in a wide range of fields, which includes, but is not limited to, song lyrics. The only way to change the way these languages are seen as and thus help them come back from the brink of extinction is to use them in as many fields as possible, just like A Tergo Lupi did with this song, for which I am awfully grateful. • Translating this song was particularly challenging for me, both for the lack of material to access these two languages and of speakers to help me figure them out. A line that had me and a Milanese-speaking linguist particularly puzzled was the title itself. According to the artists, that line is supposed to look the same in both languages, but while I was able to track it down from an Emilian perspective, we were a tad lost as to how that was supposed to be Milanese too. We could only assume that in some specific sub-variety of Milanese one such expression exists, which we were unable to track down. • If you select as subtitles “Latin”, you won’t find a translation to Latin (sorry about that). Instead, you’ll find two translations in two other minor languages of Italy: Ladin (above) and Venetan (below). • I was forced to select Latin as a language because the only other minor language of Italy made available by YouTube is Sicilian, which is spoken literally at the opposite side of the country. And that would do even less than Latin, really. • Video from Skyrim, recorded by ‪@Everness1‬:    • Skyrim - Music   Ambience - Day   • #FlamSparks #ATergoLupi #AnmaEdPreia #lyricvideo #ita #italiano #dialetto #minorlanguage #smalllanguage #emiliano #emilianoromagnolo #lombardo #emilian #lombard #emilianromagnol
