A female screaming cowbird (Molothrus rufoaxillaris) makes a laying visit to a baywing (Agelaioides badius) nest before the laying of the first host's egg (pre-laying stage). The cowbird manages to lay her egg in the empty nest cup while fighting with the host. The baywing later kick-ejects this egg by rolling it out of the nest cup using its feet. This research was published in the journal Biology Letters in the paper: A novel method of rejection of brood parasitic eggs reduces parasitism intensity in a cowbird host by Maria C. De Marsico, Ros Gloag, Cynthia A. Ursino and Juan C. Reboreda. The doi link for the article is http://rsbl.royalsocietypublishing.or....
