In this example, we will be downloading it on mac os, but the process will be similar for any operating system. • First, navigate to the android studio download site (linked in the description). Click download Android Studio and select the options that match your operating system. • Once the download has completed, navigate to the applications folder on your desktop, and open the program. • When prompted, complete the setup wizard and finalize the installation. • Next, go to the github page with this year’s software development kit. Click the green button labeled “code,” and select “download zip” from the dropdown. • Once the zip file has finished downloading, open the file to expand it. Save the file “FTC-Controller-Master” to a memorable location, as you will need it later. You can also rename the folder something that better represents your team code. • After you finish that, go to the third link in the description to download Oracle Java. At the bottom of the text, there is a download Java button. Press that and make sure it is the correct version for your operating system. Complete the Java setup as directed. • Now, open the Android Studio application from your desktop. On the welcome screen, select “open project,” and open the downloaded S-D-K folder. • Wait for the gradle to sync with your project files. If the gradle fails to sync, navigate to the build tab on the bottom of your screen. Click the link titled “install missing SDK packages.” Accept the terms and wait for it to download. • Once this is finished, the gradle should sync successfully. If Android Studio prompts you to install any additional plugins, you can do this as well. • If you navigate to this folder in your project, you should be able to right click and create a new java class. • Good luck and feel free to email us with any questions. • Music Credit: https://www.bensound.com
