My visit to Skala Kallonis was my second attempt το cover the amazing sardine that makes Kalloni so famous. • Located 45 kilometres west of the capital Mytilene, Skala Kallonis is a fantastic choice for those who wish to explore the island. With its picturesque harbour and protected bay, it is also home to one of the best beaches and it is home to a number of rare bird species , • The port of Skala Kallonis is home to Lesvos’s sardine fishing fleet. Walking across the shoreline you can admire the colorful boats which dot the harbor. in August you can experience the Sardine Festival, which takes place in the village square. • I waited for 2 days, early in the morning for the fisherman to take me with on their boats and give me their stories for the fishing of the sardine. No luck, I was stood up and the only thing I could do is filming the boats going and coming back. • And then I found Uncle Mimi, as they call him, the owner of the restaurant MIMIs, to talk to me about Skala Kallonis, and ex fisherman as well. • Maybe My visit to Kalloni was not what I would like it to be, but likely I met another craftsman that made my day. Meet Kosta, the baker that makes bread still in the old traditional way. • Filmed and edited by Tony Kavalieros • edited on ‪@FilmoraWondershare‬ • music by ‪@FesliyanStudios‬
