GVI Internships Abroad

GVI internships are designed to be career development programs. Interns working on a GVI program abroad will still work on impact-driven volunteer programs, but will be provided with additional training and education resources that volunteers do not have access to. All interns will be assigned a mentor who will discuss their development with them one-on-one on a weekly basis. They will also have the opportunity to earn qualifications such as the PADI Divemaster or TEFL certificate. All GVI internships also include a leadership course, which gives interns the chance to lead a project, testing out their leadership skills. • We offer both short-term three month internship and six month longer term internships. Both types of internships feature three months of training. The only difference is that the longer term internship includes a placement. This placement can be internal, within GVI, or external, at for example, a dive centre in Mexico, a school in Thailand or a conservation program in the Seychelles. This is experience allows interns to master key skills in their area of expertise and gain the independence necessary to become a fully fledged professional in their field. • Many of our own staff are candidates who have completed the GVI internship.
