Player: FantasyJared • Welcome to my wild new religion, homies! This is fuckin' GundeadliGne, and it has quickly become one of my favorite games of all time. Let's break it down, shall we? There's quite a lot to cover, but I'll keep it brief. • This is a doujin shmup originally released in 2004 by developer Platine Dispositif, and...initially, it was an absolute nightmare to set up. After a metric fuckton of troubleshooting - almost losing faith along the way - I finally got everything working perfectly. With the help of a few friends, I gave it a shot...and the rest was history. • If I could describe GundeadliGne (officially pronounced 'Gun-dead-line') in one word, it would be frenetic. The patterns are wild, the shot-types are crazy, the stages are unbelievably fast-paced and offer little time to breathe, and you'll probably hit Area 3 before you even finish tying your shoelaces. • There is one dominant mechanic that the entire run revolves around, and that is the Phase Level. It's basically a rank system - the better you play, the higher it goes, and vice versa. Because of this, on Advanced difficulty especially, you're going to need some major tricks up your sleeve to survive the onslaught of increasingly hellish patterns. I cannot stress this enough - even Standard will send you home crying if you play carelessly. Fortunately, I discovered a major trick of my own...introducing, Rank Manipulation Strategies! • Many times throughout this run, you will see me either time out patterns ('Pacifist') or intentionally running into bullets to activate my autobomb. Taking damage and bombing decreases your Phase Level by 1, while timing out boss patterns prevents the Phase Level from increasing. It is of particular importance that you time out the puzzle boss in Area 3, as well as the semi-final attack of the last boss in Area 5. Doing so will skip two additional boss fights for the former, and a deadly final attack for the latter. If my Phase Level was any higher at the end of this run, that pattern would have gone from trivial to utterly maddening. • And man, honestly...I love this fucking game. I love everything about it - the system, shot-types, playable characters, depth of gameplay, presentation, amount of content - the list goes on. I have so much to say about this game that I couldn't possibly cover everything with a dinky little description. Grab yourself a Steam key on G2A or something and play this game - you will not regret it. • PS: Unfortunately, GundeadliGne (along with other games from the Gundemonium series) are not technically available on Steam anymore. The only way to play them is to buy a Steam key online. Thankfully, that is cheap and not particularly difficult, but I would love to see this series return proper one day. I'm sure it will, if the dev is anything to go by! ^^ • PPS: To fix any potential issues with Windows 10, you're gonna need a few tools. Namely, a Windows 10 fix patch for StellaVanity that just so happens to work amazingly well for a majority of old shmup games. Using some config files of DGVoodoo, this single-handedly saved the game for me and allowed me to enjoy it in the first place. Grab Shinkirou too while you're at it - it'll allow you to put old applications in full screen while still technically being windowed. This means you basically get borderless windowed full screen, and I shouldn't have to explain why that's essential. • PPPS: If you need any help setting this game up, hit me up at FantasyJared#1783 on Discord and I'll try my best to help! :) • #GundeadliGne #Gundemonium #BulletHell
