The Sin of Defaming Others Part 1 James 4:11a • Defamation of Character – is an attack on the reputation of someone by publishing falsely and maliciously things that slander and injure. • I. Defamation of Character • a. Publishes - that is proclaims something, Proclaims something that is false with a malicious intent. • II. Defamation and Civil Law • a. In the USA it is against the law to defame someone's character - this protection is based upon the ethics of God's word. • III. Defamation of Others • a. Is a sin, and One that you can commit at any time. • b. And is not something that is found in True Believers • IV. Defamation of Others and God • a. God hates this sin greatly Prov 6:16-19 • V.
