So ensuring that you have a solid secure grip is absolutely critical to getting a good workout. • A chain is only as strong as its weakest link, and for a lot of exercises your hands are the weakest link. That's why it's important to know how to use basic weight lifting accessories to help re-enforce your grip, and thus maximize the effectiveness of your bodybuilding workouts. • Wrist Wraps: • The purpose of a wrist wrap is to provide support for your wrist joint and to re-enforce you grip. The wrist wrap can help keep your hands and wrists inline and prevent strain when performing heavy presses. They can also help to keep your hands clenched and aid with grip strength for heavy rowing exercises. • Lifting Straps: • A lifting strap is a tool that connects your hands to the barbells and dumbbells. Unlike a wrap which only provides support, the lifting strap will literally strap your hands to the bar, allowing you to hold on to heavier weights for longer periods of time then your natural grip strength will allow. • To see a video tutorial of how to use lifting straps, click the link below:    • How To Use Lifting Straps To Re-enfor...   • Weight Lifting Chalk: • The purpose of chalk is to dry up the sweat on your hands and to increase friction between your skin and the barbells and dumbbells. If you have ever had your hands slip on the bar because of sweaty palms, than using lifting chalk will make a huge difference. The nice thing about chalk is it allows you to maximize your natural grip strength, unlike a lifting strap that provides artificial grip strength. The down side is that it's messy and many gyms frown upon using it and getting chalk dust over the equipment and gym floor. • Workout Gloves: • Weight lifting gloves can help provide some padding between your hands and the barbells and dumbbells. This can be helpful if you find the handles dig into your hands and cause pain and discomfort. One of the downsides to workout gloves is that extra layer of padding in the palm of your hands may make it harder to wrap your fingers all the way around the bar and get a good grip, especially if you have small hands.
