Most healthcare professionals recommend bathing newborns 2 or 3 times per week, increasing the frequency as your baby gets older. Even though you may not give your baby a bath every day, a sponge bath is an alternative many parents choose for their very young babies. • What You’ll Need to bathe your baby: • Baby tub • Cottontouch™ 2-in-1 bath wash • Cottontouch™ face body lotion • Washcloth • Cotton pads • Towel • Step 1: Test the water temperature • To begin bath time, fill the tub with water, swirl it around, and test the temperature to make sure it’s not too hot. Support your baby’s head and neck with one arm, while you bathe them with the other. • • If your baby still has an umbilical cord, ask your doctor about sponge baths • Never leave your baby unattended in the bath, even for a second. • Step 2: Wipe baby’s eyes • Use a damp cotton pad to wipe from the inside corner outward. • Step 3: Wash your baby’s body • Now begin bathing your baby’s chest, and wash down their body. • For uncircumcised boys, avoid pulling back the foreskin. • SUPER: Step 4: Rinse • Pour water over your baby’s belly to rinse them off and keep them warm. • Wash your baby’s face, neck and behind their ears, getting in every crease and fold. • Step 5: Gently wash baby’s head • Save your baby’s head for last, to keep them from getting cold. • Step 6: Dry off • Wrap both hands around their chest, under their arms and support their head as you lift them out, and dry them off. • Dry creases and nappy area fully to avoid irritation. • Step 7: Moisturise • Now is a great time for a massage. Before you get your baby dressed, apply a gentle moisturiser to keep their skin soft and nourished. • A massage can help calm your baby’s breathing and get them ready for bed. • Babies’ skin loses moisture 2x’s faster than adults. • This is the perfect transition from playtime to sleep time. • To learn more visit our website: https://www.johnsonsbaby.co.uk • https://www.johnsonsbaby.co.uk/johnso... • https://www.johnsonsbaby.co.uk/johnso... • Website: https://www.johnsonsbaby.co.uk/ • Instagram: @JohnsonsbabyUK • Facebook: www.facebook.com/JohnsonsUkIre
