I was having problems with my 32 strand snare wires being too loose on the head no matter the tension I put on them, but I tried using cord which has seemed to help in some way. I think it has to do with pulling wider on the wires which helps distribute the tension across all those wires evenly. The strap that is usually used pulls from the center.
