1960s Rusty Nylint Grabber Double Engine Hot Rod Restoration

Nylint's hot rod and race car series is one of my favorite toys. It has many styles, and each style has different decals. I think it isn't easy to collect them all. Today I finally completed the restoration of this rusty Nylint grabber hot rod with double engine. • This Grabber Hot Rod is very cool. I couldn't find out exactly the car’s year of production, probably in the 1960s. • The restoring process wasn't easy, and some challenges have been encountered. The biggest challenge were the two engines. One was missing and the other was badly damaged. I couldn't find any replacements at all on the market. I had to repair the existing engine, and then use that as model to make a mold and cast two completely new engines. After several experiments, I finally succeeded. After painting with a chrome pen, the effect looks very good. • It turns out that there are three claws or hooks at the bottom of each engine. I tried to make a one-piece engine mold, but it didn’t work. Finally, I just made three bottom hooks using plastic plates and glued them to the bottom of the engine. This worked great, but this part of the production process isn't included in the video. • Another challenge was that I couldn't find any replacement decal stickers. According to the patterns and approximate sizes I found in my internet searches, I drew two of them by hand.
