Monomorphic ventricular ectopics are premature ventricular beats having the same morphology or shape. Monomorphic ventricular ectopics originate from a single focus within the ventricle and can be targeted for radiofrequency catheter ablation after mapping their origin using multiple catheters within the heart to record the electrical activity within the heart. Mapping and ablation is considered only if the ventricular ectopics are very frequent, typically more than 10% or more than 10,000 per day. Left ventricular activation sequence is altered in ventricular ectopy so that there is dyssynchrony of contractions, quite different from the synchronous activation in sinus rhythm. Left ventricular dyssynchrony can lead on to heart failure in the long run if the ventricular ectopy is quite frequent. • Web: https://johnsonfrancis.org/profession...
