Here at Thrasher, we believe in doing things a little bit differently, and we want to have our sump pump lids sealed right from the the start. The reason for that is, first off, when you're letting when you have a drain tile system going around your home and it's all feeding into the sump pit, it's allowing earthy smells, moisture, humidity from that sump pump and your drain tower in the basement all coming over that sump pump. It's allowing it to get into your living space in the basement because the sump pumps not sealed. So you want to seal that to prevent all that moisture, earthy smells from getting into the home. • And that's something very tangible that people can feel, and that's something that people just don't want to have. The other reason you'd want to seal a sump pump is to keep rate on gas from getting into your home. So rate on gas is a gas that you can't taste, see, smell, and it's a silent killer that people aren't thinking about. But you can actually be getting that into your home through an open sump pit as well. So you want to have a sealed sump pit for keeping Earth, moisture, humidity, earthy smells out of your home and for keeping radon gasses out of your home when you're sealing. • The other thing to be thinking about when you're sealing your sump pit or putting a lid on your sump pit is a lot of times contractors will seal it so you can't get back into that sump pit. If you do that, you can't get to your sump pump that is actually inside that sump pit. And that sump pump is a mechanical device. And like all mechanical devices, will eventually need to be maintained and replaced. They just have a life expectancy of them. • And so you want to have a sump lid that you can actually remove and be able to get to that sump pump and access it. So the sump pump lids that we use are easily removable. They'll seal out the rate on gas, humidity, the earthy smells, but will allow you, as the homeowner or as a contractor to be able to get into that sump kit and get access to your sump pump.
