TEKLEHAIMANOT, Avishalom • (Senior Pastor and Director of Humanitarian Aid, Tents of Mercy Congregation) • • Avishalom Teklehaimanot was born and raised in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia, God placed practical compassion on his heart at a young age when he was exposed to the poor and needy of his city, and he always longed to make a difference. • • At the age of 17, Avishalom left behind his birthplace and close family and made Aliyah to Israel. As a young student in a new country, Avi began a spiritual journey to find God, his identity, and purpose in life. This journey led him eventually to find salvation in Yeshua (Jesus). • • Avi studied social work and served in many community work arenas. In 2014 he felt called to be in full time ministry at Tents of Mercy Congregation in Kiryat Yam, a town just north of Haifa. He now serves as the senior leader and directs its citywide humanitarian aid outreach. • • Avi and his wife, Hannah, have been married for 24 years and have four children.
