With a mission to raise awareness for the first-of-its-kind cash prescription program for Flint mothers, Rx Kids hosted an inaugural baby parade on Tuesday, June 11 in the Flint Cultural Center. • • The event was modeled after baby parades that took place in the United States in 1918 during “Children’s Year,” a federal government campaign to improve the lives of children and reduce infant mortality rates. • • “Our communities thrive when our kids are healthy and taken care of, and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate our beloved, talented children in Flint than a Baby Parade,” said Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha, Associate Dean for Public Health in the College of Human Medicine and Director of the Michigan State University-Hurley Children’s Hospital Pediatric Public Health Initiative and director of Flint Rx Kids. • • In this video, hear from Hanna-Attisha and H. Luke Shaefer, Rx Kids co-founder. • • Read more: https://www.mlive.com/news/flint/2024... • • (Video by Jake May | MLive.com)
