Triebold Paleontology, Incorporated offers an incomparable selection of marine reptiles from the Western Interior Seaway in its catalog of casts. Here for example, is our replica of the famous Elasmosaurus platyurus from the Philadelphia Academy of Sciences, initially described and illustrated by Edward Drinker Cope with the head mistakenly mounted on the end of the tail. • These enormous, long-necked marine predators probably specialized in ambushing prey from below. With eyes facing more upward than forward, Elasmosaurus seems best adapted to scanning for silhouettes of fish passing above and striking into schools using its neck which was more than twice the length of the rest of its body. This famous specimen would have had an impressive striking distance as its total body length measures nearly 13 meters at 42 feet long. The history of the Bone Wars and the majesty of this Late Cretaceous predator fills a gallery with more than meets the eye. • Contact Mike Triebold for pricing and information on this or any of our other specimens via email or phone. To view this and a whole museum full of amazing mounted fossil specimens, stop by the RMDRC in our beautiful small mountain town setting, just 15 minutes west of Colorado Springs on Highway 24. • Please hit the subscribe button and check out some of our other amazing specimens.
