Rasputin : The Man Who Refused To Die • Russian History is incomplete without mentioning Grigori Rasputin. Who was Grigori Rasputin? Rasputin had humble beginnings but later in his life, he assumed the role of a mystic. He was also often referred to as “the mad monk”. • The name “Rasputin” started to gain more fame as, “the mad monk”, was able to cure the Royal Russian family’s young heir, Tsarvich Alexei, deadly disease of haemophilia (a blood disease). After this feat, Rasputin gained immense support from the Tsarina, Alexandra who often sought his guidance with royal matters. However, it did not take long for Rasputin’s life to take a sour turn.
