Booca's approach to rhythm is distinct: negative space and sustained notes can hold the rhythm still, while dense grouping of drum strokes speed up the rhythm. The effect feels like time attached to a pendulum. Momentum of each cycle transitioning into the next. • The four pieces explore different tempos ranging from the 110 bpm Flash Eaters to the 160/170 bpm dnb-tempo Saudade and We Are Inside a Puzzle. In between sits the title track So! which is part acid dubstep and part slow drumfunk. Shuffles and filtered layers of drum breaks hint at the dnb roots.
