I could literally feel the brain cells leaking out of my body, but I couldn’t look at my phone because our teacher didn’t allow us to. So, I just held my phone under my desk, when it hit me: What if I could be playing a game right now. Without anyone even knowing? • ⭐️ HOW DO YOU PLAY TIC? • Tic works by using Haptics (the little vibrations your phone makes). Just hold your phone, and Tic will play a rhythm of “Tics,” that you can feel though your device. What you have to do is try and recreate the rhythm you feel by tapping it anywhere on the screen. But, if your timing of your taps doesn’t match the original rhythm exactly, you have to try again. It sounds easy, but getting the timing right is tricky, making for a unique challenge and fun gameplay! • ⭐️ HOW DO I KNOW THE GAME IS ON? • In order for there to be no evidence that you are playing, the entire screen is black. However, there’s a very tiny white dot at the bottom right corner of the screen. It is small enough that someone else wouldn't notice, but you can use it to tell if the game is on. • ⭐️ NOTES: • Whenever I launch an app I try and get the word out using YT, Reddit, and Hacker News. For Tic!, my post on Hacker News blew up and reached the front page, which is where most of the traction came from. However, I have done these things for other apps too and never saw this kind of traction. • As I mentioned, being unique is definitely not the only way to grow an app. This is just my experiance, but if you are super passionate about building something that has similar competitors still feel free to go for it! Just know that getting the word out can be hard, and so plan for that ahead of time ;) • Another thing about Tic! is that it's easy to understand why it is unique. For example, I made a family-friendly word based party game called Imagine Storiez. It was unique and fun, but making that obvious to a customer / viewer was a lot harder without actually playing a round with them or something. However with Tic!, it's much easier. I can just say The only game with no visuals or sound / The only game you can play Anytime, Anywhere etc. • ⭐️ QUESTIONS? • Please leave them in a comment below!
